Come Join Us For Our 4th Annual Roped Climbing Competition
Join us for Hoosier Heights Bloomington's 4th annual War On Gravity roped climbing competition!
Saturday, April 18th!
Just like last year, to better accommodate the amount of climbers competing, we are splitting the competition up into two sessions.
Session 1:
The first session will allow for climbers to start checking in at 10:15am, have a rule meeting at 10:50am, and then begin climbing starting at 11am. Climbers in Session 1 will have until 2pm to complete the 6 routes in their category to the best of their ability and turn in their completed scorecards.
Session 2:
The second session will allow for climbers to start checking in at 2:15pm, have a rule meeting at 2:50pm, and then begin climbing starting at 3pm. Climbers in Session 2 will have until 6pm to complete the 6 routes in their category to the best of their ability and turn in their completed scorecards.
Climbers are still welcome to compete in Session 1 even if they will arrive later than 11am, however they will still only have until 2pm to complete their routes. This same rule applies to Session 2 as well, climbers may show up after 3pm and still compete but will still be required to be done by 6pm with the rest of their session.
Climbers may select the category they wish to compete in the day of the competition by marking their selected category on their scorecard.
** Both the recreational and Intermediate categories will contain routes only on auto belays and top rope. The advanced category will have routes on tope rope and auto belay as well as some routes that will have the option to be lead but those who are not lead certified are able to choose to top rope instead. All competitors in the Open category must be lead certified prior to the competition as most if not all routes in the Open category will be on lead. **
The format of this competition will be a modified redpoint format with more detailed rules and review of the scoring given on the day of the competition.
There will be limited staff available if you need a catch and don't have a partner, but we encourage you to make and bring friends to belay and compete with you! Prizes will be awarded to those who place 1st and 2nd in each category. Additionally, everyone who competes will be entered into a raffle at the end of the competition and you must be present to win.
Following the completion of the Session 2, scores will be tallied and there will be crate stacking open to all competitors from both sessions from 6pm - 7pm. We will also be hosting a community cookout open to all of our competitors and spectators from 6pm -7pm!
Winners will be announced at 7pm with prizes being given out and the raffle following!
